DAY 2 - IDENTITY MARKER 2 - CHOSEN IN HIM

Ephesians 1:4-7 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.

It’s important to establish who you are, especially in today’s world, where everything around you is screaming who you are, who you could or should be, what you need, how you can improve yourself, what you are lacking etc. Have you ever noticed how great you feel before you go on Instagram and see everyone else’s perfect lives? Afterward, you feel inadequate, like you are missing out on life! The Bible tells us what and who we are, the truth of our reality, not Instagram! We listen to our Bible, not our circumstances or our emotions.

So Paul, in Chapter 1:4-10, sets you up for your day and your life by building on your identity. The first thing I want you to notice is that your identity is ‘in Him’. We have these things because we are in Christ, so the first step to getting what I am about to show you is find yourself ‘in Him’ and like John 15 says, remain ‘in Him’. Then check out the list in the above scripture that sets out your identity – who you are ‘in Him’. You are chosen, holy, blameless, adopted as His sons and daughters, given freely. We are redeemed, forgiven, lavished with riches – and that’s just the first few chapters of Ephesians! Read this verse in your Bible and highlight everything Paul shows you, that you are ‘in Christ’. Then stand on it! When the world says you should be ashamed, say you are blameless. When Instagram makes you feel inadequate, tell it you are chosen by God!
