Mark Dip - Day 2

DAY 2 I HAVE THE ANSWER BUT DON’T TELL ANYONE JUST YET

Mark 3:11 You are the Son of God. But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.

Jesus completely bucks Marketing 101 strategy in this verse. If you are going to change the world in three years, wouldn’t you tell everyone to ‘get the word out’ and use every miracle to get your message out? I mean, we are going to need Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Twitter – everything to pull this off. But not Jesus. Over and over again in Mark, He says ‘don’t tell anyone about this’ or ‘he did not want anyone to know it’. Check out Chapters 3:11, 5:43, 7:24, 7:36, 8:30, 9:9 and 9:30.

Why would Jesus do this? Why was it so important to keep things a secret until a certain time? And what was that time? Now, I am not going to tell you the answer to this because I want you to go on a Bible adventure and discover the answer yourself. Grab a commentary and jump into the verses above.

The one thing I discovered on my Bible adventure into these texts was that Jesus knew exactly what He was doing, He was totally in control and He knew the best time for everything. When things don’t make sense in my life and the timing isn’t what I expected, I can get frustrated that God is not in control or perhaps He doesn’t understand. TYB, know this: no matter what answer God gives you, He is in control you can trust Him, He knows exactly what is going on, and He has a bigger plan and a bigger perspective in mind then our tiny brains can comprehend. Sometimes, the only answer is to trust that He knows best, even if you have no idea why He is doing what He is!

There is a time in the gospel of Mark when he stops saying ‘don’t say anything’ and says ‘tell the world’ so have fun finding it as you read the book of Mark!
