Therefore: find out what it is there for!

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Reflection

‘Therefore’ is an incredibly important word in the Bible. When you find a therefore – find out what it is there for. Go back and read the previous verses because that is where you will find the key. In the above verse, the ‘therefore put on the full armor of God’, is because we battle not against flesh and blood, as found in verse 12. We are called to put on all Christ won for us on the cross so that we can stand our ground. When the enemy came against Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus didn’t battle with him with His emotion or His own words, He spoke the Word of God. Like Jesus, it is our responsibility to stand in the victory that has been won, to stand on the promises of the Bible over our emotions, to stand on the declarations of faith over our circumstances, to believe the Word over what we see with our eyes. That is how we war, that is how we stand!

How important is it to ensure the Word of God is in your mind so it can come out when you need it most?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, help us to stand today against the enemies plans over our lives. Help us to use the Word like a sword against the enemy, standing strong in your words, promises, statements and declarations. Your Word has the power to overcome anything that the enemy sends against us, help us to know it and use it today.
