Ephesians Dip - Day 7
DAY 7 - FINALLY UPON THIS IDENTITY - WE STAND
Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
After telling us who we are, knowing our inheritance (riches and power), where we are seated, placed there by grace, in one community in Christ, Paul says the word that changes everything in Chapter 6 – ‘finally’. Meaning after everything, knowing all I have just told you, now be strong in the Lord and stand against the enemy’s schemes. Keep reading Chapter 6 to see all Christ wants us to do with our identity.
Did you notice that we are not strong in our own strength? Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power: we are strong in God’s strength, we are confident in His mighty power. And with that knowledge, we put on the full armor of God, to stand. If you want to know more about the armor of God, jump onto the TYB studies in Ephesians; every section of the armor has already been won in Christ. It is more about being clothed in everything He did for us on the cross than being clothed in our own strength.
Lastly, notice that we don’t war against the enemy, we stand. Standing is a position of strength, of enforcing what has already been won. We stand in Christ and all He did on the cross, clothed in righteousness, peace, the gospel, truth, salvation, faith and the Word. We stand and don’t retreat, we hold our ground and see what God will do. Knowing your identity at this point is essential. As you stand in all that Christ has given you, you stand holy, you stand blameless, you stand chosen, you stand predestined, you stand in God’s power, you stand in His grace. See how important knowing your identity is in warfare?
